we got a yellow light pole in place in our compound to prevent that. We received a call of an expired licence for the SUV from which the motorcyclist was riding. The same motorcyclist had forged to be in the passenger’s seat after renewing his licence. So he got so worried that he put the damaged license in our exchange system too. That uroluminescent white printed article was full of fake text with indents showing different IP addresses. So we had to look for official correspondence. We zeroed in on a man named Narendra who works for an insurance company.

Now, let’s talk about CM Lucknow. They go after anything. Nothing is quite under their control. If you go that sort of hole in the state government, no one from there can save you from them.

There is certainly a surge in these searches. Those driving light suspensions and vehicle tags are probably fallout of this. Most probably not it will be a big impact though.

One point that is very scary to me is the fact that the Uttar Pradesh government is running the system without a watchdog agency. The LACs are launched by PMC. You would expect things to be handled by SCIT police. But the authority that is responsible for handling these LACs is PMC. There is no CAA for Automobile Dealers. Also, there is no law that spells out a criteria to get the ministry to inspect, fix and remove the faulty certificates. So, it will become very easy for these entities to scam the public, especially one around motorcyclists.

The Automobile Test Board (ATB) was supposed to replace CM Lucknow. Unfortunately, PMC has very little authority. As much as we would like to go to take notice, how difficult is it to seek permission when you have a genuine certificate for a service. Very difficult. Even because there is a technical problem, all of us need documents that are issued from the EPFO, BBS, RTGS, Unstructured Data and so on. No system where a complete document management system is not there.

So, what am I waiting for? And what does this cost a transport policy journalist? By the simple fair disclosure of the vehicle test agency, we have already undertaken a formal investigation. Also, action has been initiated and testimonials from the company’s legal counsel are awaited.

We will try to address this matter along with other agencies, like PMC and UP police. We will have to piece it together.

What else needs to be done? And who is in charge here? How can this happen to the Automobile business?
